Abstract
The study examines strong-field tidal deformation of black holes in BBH inspirals using source multipole moments of dynamical horizons computed in NR simulations. While the usual (field) tidal Love numbers for nonspinning black holes vanish in GR, the horizon-based source multipole moments yield nonzero tidal response that can be tracked during inspiral. Across several simulations (especially for modest mass ratios), the evolution of these source multipoles and associated Love numbers shows evidence for near-universal behavior.
